Grand Chapter History
Harmony Chapter's first trip to Grand Chapter was with Sister Myrtle Hurst Nordan, who was Worthy Grand Matron in 1959-1960 with Brother George Stephenson, Jr., as her Worthy Grand Patron. Harmony got our first Past Grand Patron by affiliation when Brother Robert Moore, Past Grand Patron of the District of Columbia, joined Harmony Chapter in 1993.
For almost 43 years it seemed that Grand Chapter had forgotten about Harmony Chapter, until 2002-2003, when Sister Bren Brundage served as Grand Martha for Sister Rhonda King, Worthy Grand Matron, and Brother E.A. "Doc" Viereck, Worthy Grand Patron.
This was followed by Brother Steve Brundage serving as Worthy Grand Patron along side Sister Setha Bennett, Worthy Grand Matron, in 2005-2006 with Brother James Baker as their Grand Organist. Then in 2010-2011 Sister Bren was WGM with Brother David Bland as her Worthy Grand Patron and Sister Jeani Penn was their Grand Esther. Brother James Baker has also served as Grand Trustee for many years. For the 2016-2017 Grand Chapter year, Harmony Chapter was honored when Brother Jacob Schindler was appointed Grand Sentinel.

December 2, 2016, when Hope Chapter #73, Fairfax, VA, merged with Harmony Chapter, our Grand Chapter History grew with our new members! Harmony Chapter welcomes Sister Betty Holland, Grand Ruth, 1975-1976; Sister Shirley Sutphin, Grand Esther, 1998-1999; Sister Faye Wiseman, Grand Electa, 1990-1991; and Sister Debbie Weaver, Grand Marshal, 2009-2010.

On January 23, 2023, Harmony Chapter was once again honored by a Grand Chapter appointment when Sister Linda Pearce, AGM, announced that she had appointed Sister Kathy Meldrum, PM to be Grand Martha during her Grand Chapter term of 2023-2024. We are pleased with Sister Kathy's appointment and are looking forward to sharing her year with her.
Well, that's about it in a nutshell. Obviously, this isn't a complete history by any means, but it at least tells you a little about how Harmony Chapter got here, a little about who we are, the things we've accomplished these past 96 years and, we're here to tell you, there are many more things Harmony Chapter plans to accomplish in the future.
